[Workshop] [2021]
Costumes of the future
Textiles and recycling
Dyeing recycled fabrics, embroidering small objects, and sewing with plastic – we transport ourselves mentally to the year 2050. The task is to make a costume piece or an ornament using the materials available to us. During the week, various textile techniques are discussed to give all participants a good foundation for the creative process. From the experimental phase, we move on to costume making, where each child is guided and supported in implementing their own idea.
The artist and textile designer Kivy Theunen wants to pass on the basics of textile craftsmanship, which is combined with modern materials and themes. By reusing “garbage” we give the supposedly useless object a new life and new value.
