#1: 2084

25 – 27 July 2025
at the Cénacle, Champsecret (Normandy, France)

idea

A festival weekend for sound, visual, performing and culinary arts. An experimental, participatory and transdisciplinary format. An exercise in introspection and prospection on the great challenges and multi-crises of our time. A reflection on our relationship as a species to the living, on our position within planetary ecosystems. A social experiment based on encounter, exchange and co-operation.

To arouse curiosity, stimulate creativity and encourage us to leave the beaten track – in the way we treat ourselves and the world, in the way we think and act in our social and artistic practice. Combining the power of imagination and scientific research, bringing dreams and realities together to explore possible futures, “possitopias” – overcoming the reductionist dualism of utopia and dystopia.

A tailor-made artistic creation upstream, based on a scenario design, but enriched above all by the participants durung the first half of the programme through encounters and co-creative workshops. On Saturday evening, an immersive and multisensory spectacle, open to the public, followed by a festive moment, and finally a Sunday as an incubator for ideas.

[under construction]

In 2084, there are only a few hundred million human beings left on planet Earth after the great catastrophes of the 2050s. Among them, a team of scientists has managed to preserve the sum of knowledge that humanity has accumulated since the first civilisations. Like many others, the group is travelling in search of the last habitable and arable areas on Earth. Along the way, they come across a small community that has developed surprisingly resilient forms of organisation.

Together, like so many before them, they make an ambitious plan to lay the foundations for a new way of human life on Earth. The emergence of this oasis makes the rounds among the other survivors, and the influx of refugees increases inexorably. Gradually, this new society attempts to organise and structure itself, particularly around a mysterious connected centre that helps with spatial planning and managing resource flows.

In order not to repeat the mistakes of the past, it is decided to organise a major retrospective event that will shed light on the history of human civilisations while providing a space for encounters, exchanges and conviviality…
